Energy-efficient tax credit
Tax breaks bring savings on high-efficiency Lennox products
As a four-time winner of the ENERGY STAR® Manufacturing Partner of the Year award—and the first and only winner in the heating and cooling industry—Lennox offers a complete selection of high-efficiency home comfort systems that qualify for tax credits by meeting the minimum energy-efficiency ratings stipulated in the Middle Class Tax Relief Act of 2010.
Guidelines
Tax Credit
As a homeowner, you are entitled to a total tax credit of 10% of cost up to $500 or a specific amount from $50 - $300 for energy-efficient improvements made in 2011. This credit covers the costs and installation of enhancements to your home’s exterior (windows, doors, skylights, insulation, roofing, etc.), as well as investments in qualifying heating, cooling and water-heating equipment.
Dollar Amount Cap
The $500 home-improvement cap includes tax credits for any efficiency upgrades made in 2006 through 2010—not just 2011. If you claimed $500 or more of these tax credits in any previous year, your purchase made in 2011 will be ineligible for a tax credit. If you filed claims that fall below the $500 limit, you may still qualify for a credit, but you may not get the full dollar amount specified.
For instance, if you claimed $450 in 2006 to 2010, you are only eligible for $50 in 2011. Please consult a tax expert for questions and on any tex credit to which you may be entitled.
Requirements
Must be an existing home and your principal residence. New construction and rentals do NOT qualify. Qualifying equipment must be purchased and installed between January 1, 2011 and December 31, 2011.
